Wild Broncs to Worldwide Missions

Greg & Michele McClanahan had no idea what God was going to do with their lives over the years. They only knew that what he had done in their lives he wanted to do in others! If Jesus died on the cross for them he deserved everything that they had to give, their love, their time, their devotion and their lives. They have since traveled the world sharing with others what Jesus has done for them. Greg has said many times, “God wants to shake the world… he’s just looking for people who believe he will do it through them! Our God rejoices in the impossible and loves to do things that no man can explain. That way he gets all of the glory!”

That is much of the story of Greg & Michele as well as Harvest Evangelistic Association, the world wide missions ministry that they founded. Having the clear guidance of God to leave his full time job at General Motors Greg and Michele sold all they had and within two weeks set out on their journey as full time missionary evangelists. They had no promised support from anyone only the rock solid confidence that Where God guides he also provides!

They have now been in full time ministry for eighteen years and that vision of a worldwide, front line evangelistic missions ministry is spreading around the world with a passion! Under the direction of Greg & Michele Harvest Evangelistic Association now has 39 full time native Missionary Evangelists working on four continents. They have trained and fully support full time film evangelism teams working in Argentina, Mexico, Paraguay, the Philippines, and Uganda. At their current rate they are projecting to have over 1250,000 people saved around the world in the next 12 months! They are also in the planning stages of training and supporting More Film Evangelism Teams in Uganda as well as in Rwanda and The Congo.

It has now been 24 years from the time that Greg Michele gave our lives to Jesus. From then until now Jesus has been all they know, and he is enough! Before they surrendered their lives to Jesus Greg says they were crazy drunk in sin, glorifying the devil & living hard on the road to hell. Recreation was driving around in a drunken state, shooting street lights out with a shotgun.

The photo on the right is Greg’s old GM ID card before he was saved. The day this picture was taken Greg was off work on sick leave with a broken arm from riding bareback broncs in rodeos. Greg said, “I was drunk the day I came into the plant to get that ID made”.

Greg met a man while working at General Motors who truly loved God with all his heart. The man was down on his knees cleaning the old paint off the floors in the paint department with a putty knife as he shared Jesus with Greg said, “I could not escape the conviction of this man’s walk with God. I finally found myself in our room on the floor. I saw in my mind that I was the one who drove the nails into the hands of Jesus! I felt there was no hope for my soul but at the same time I could feel somehow that Jesus still cared for me. I could feel him reaching for me. I realized that even though I was against him, Jesus loved me anyway!!”

Greg said that in that moment he cried out to God to help him. “That night the blood of Jesus cleansed me of all my sin! The next day I was a new person.” After that Greg began to read the bible three or four hours a day! Greg said, “I would show Michele all of the wonderful things that God was showing me. She thought I was going Crazy! She still kept beer in the fridge and didn’t understand why I didn’t want to drink anymore.”

Two weeks later Greg came home from work to find that Michele had also had an encounter with God. She said, “I was listening to one of my rock music tapes and the words of the song said “...if you are into evil you’re a friend of mine...” Michele said she realized in that moment, as God opened her eyes, that she also was against Him. She looked up and said, “Forgive me Lord,” and was changed forever! Michele was a complete new person from that day forward!

The rest is history… Greg said, “We praise God always that he loved us even though we were against him and that he made the way for us to be saved! What a miracle! They also praise God for a harvest of multiple thousands of others that have been saved over the years. There is truly rejoicing in heaven. Glory to God!!

They began to use every means possible to share with others what Jesus had done for them. Greg & Michele began their walk with God sharing the good news by carrying a big cross on the strip in Midwest City, OK . They spent almost every weekend for three years organizing outreaches to the thousands of teenagers that cruised there Greg says, “The cross is such a powerful tool to bring people to face eternity! Greg & Michele’s pastor said that the sight of the cross will either bring revival or rebellion in every human heart!”

From teenagers and businessmen to Hell’s Angels bikers they have come to the cross, they have come to Jesus, broken by the power of God and changed forever!

In the summer of 1987 they began working with the Jesus film in evangelism in Mexico. Over the next 2 years they went to Mexico as often as General Motors would let Greg have the time off work to go.

It was in June of 1989 the Lord led Greg to leave General Motors to work in full time ministry. Two weeks later July 1st 1989 Greg left GM with no promise of support from any church or individual. They sold everything they had and founded the ministry. Two weeks later they left the USA for Mexico to begin working in full time evangelism.

They went on faith without even taking the time out to travel around to churches in the USA to raise support like most people do. It has been 18 years since Greg & Michele began working in full time mission evangelism and God has been so faithful to provide for their every need.

Hundreds of thousands have come to the Lord throughout the world. HEA also builds 8-10 new churches every year and each year their church planting ministries are involved in helping to start hundreds of others. They also have a school of ministry with almost 60 graduates as well as women’s & men’s ministries, prison ministries, children’s ministries, youth ministries, church evangelism seminars, medical missions and church leadership conferences.

Greg & Michele would like to say that they are so thankful for the churches, individuals, businesses, small groups, Sunday school classes etc. that have felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to support Harvest Evangelistic Association. “Only in heaven will you one day truly know how the millions of souls that are there because of your generosity!”
